School FAQ’s

  1. If a supporter donates, and recommends our school – will our school receive that donation?
    While there is no guarantee, IBE makes every effort to honor the recommendation of the donor. Notice (A.R.S 43-1603): A school tuition organization cannot award, restrict, or reserve scholarships based solely on a donor’s recommendation. A taxpayer may not claim a tax credit if the taxpayer agrees to swap donations with another taxpayer to benefit either taxpayer’s own dependent.
  2. Does our school need to do anything to partner with IBE?
    Yes! IBE
  3. Is IBE audited by an independent CPA?
    Yes, the IBE Board of Trustees began requiring an independent audit every year since 2002…eight years before the AZ Department of Revenue began requiring them.
  4. Can IBE pay for a prior or future year’s tuition?
    No.
  5. Can IBE pay for summer school?
    Yes, for students in high school only. Classes must be credit-bearing classed needed for graduation.
  6. Can IBE pay scholarships to a child who is repeating a grade?
    Yes.
  7. Can a student receive scholarships from more than one School Tuition Organization (STO)?
    Yes. A student, however, cannot receive dollars from both STO’s and the Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) funded by the state.
  8. What happens if I accidentally over-accept funds for a student?
    The school must return the amount in excess of tuition owed.
  9. What happens if a student withdraws during the school year?
    The school must return a prorated amount of the scholarship awarded, based on the student’s dates of enrollment.
